For over 24 years, Island West Realty has been one of the Nanaimo and surrounding regions only family owned and operated real estate and property management companies. Our managing broker, Bert Hill has a history in the real estate profession spanning over 42 years. Our family oriented approach gives us the unique advantage of being able to guarantee reliable, experienced team real estate service in an atmosphere of comfort and trust. Our motto “Old Fashioned Service, Modern Methods” reflects our sincere desire to give our clients the very highest degree of professional services available today and do it with traditional, friendly values guiding our interactions with everyone involved and with an appreciation and respect for your unique circumstances.

OUR HISTORY

Island West was the long envisioned dream of our Managing Broker, Bert Hill, who was one of the first high ranking realtors here in Nanaimo. Bert operated and managed several large Real estate agencies in the 60’s and 70’s including Newcastle Realty and later Block Brothers. He was also the key figure in developing and promoting the current MLS format for shared information on listings and sales between realtors and real estate companies. He then decided to start his own agency with a unique and family oriented approach which is now Island West Realty. A company built on decades of knowledge, respect and integrity.

Island West has enjoyed years of success with its main office located on Gabriola Island, servicing clients there as well as in Nanaimo and the surrounding region. Last year the main office was relocated to Nanaimo with Bert’s home office remaining on Gabriola thus allowing the company to better service its clients in both areas.
